When the teak top is opened, the butterfly (or flip action) extension leaf is revealed. This leaf swings up and out in a smooth and simple motion and then the top is then slid back into position. The colour of the butterfly leaf is close to the top but slightly darker, as is often the case with extension leaves that are rarely used and aren't exposed to sunlight alongside the table top.
